Set during the Partition of India in 1947, the cross-border love story has been one of the most loved films by audiences and critics as well. The sequel will also be a great comeback for Ameesha who has been missing from the silver screen lately. Apart from the lead actors, the supporting cast of the film also stood out which featured popular actors like Amrish Puri as Mayor Ashraf Ali, Lillete Dubey as Shabana Ali, Jaideep Singh as Tara's uncle, and Utkarsh Sharma as Charanjeet among others. The fact that fans still don’t mind watching the film every time it airs on television is proof that the film still hasn’t lost its charm. The story, dialogues, screenplay, songs packed with stellar performances made it the biggest blockbusters of the decade.
